Cameo (from the Old French camaieu - treasure, jewel) is a kind of gem, a carved semiprecious stone with a convex relief image.
The exhibition is created like a poetic text. The materials that make up the objects (wood, chipboard panels, gypsum, paper, polymer clay, metal) rhyme, turning into a lyrical work. Anton Kushaev is inspired by the art of Russian symbolism. The exhibition does not present explications, instead, the artist reworks and modifies a poem by Bryusov, the founder of Russian symbolism. It does not explain the exhibition but hints at the method of production of art. As in Bryusov's poetry, the mood in Kushaev's works is contradictory. The artist strives for innovation and at the same time uses traditional forms.
The blue color, which unites all objects, is a limitation, and at the same time a reference to the coloristic culture of death, the chromakey surface, and the "missing" color of the ancient Greeks.
